Programming at the Listening RoomNEW AMERICAN RADIO: Upcoming: A Beginner's Guide to Attracting Birds (1995) by Alvin Curran and North Country (1995) by Helen Thorington. The Listening Room broadcasts one radiophonic program a week on ABC Classic FM on Monday nights at 9 o'clock. Programs range from 40 to 90 minutes and covers a wide range of possible radiophonic forms: feature and documentary, new music and acoustic art, radiophonic storytelling, essays and contemporary performance. Works of various kinds may appear within a single program, but are selected by Listening Room editors to reflect upon one another in an interesting way. 75% of The Listening Room's work is Australian; 25% comes from overseas. The Listening Room also broadcasts material for other ABC networks such as the spoken word network "Radio National." And it involves itself in other aspects of Australia's cultural life, such as the Adelaide Festival, where it is thought fruitful to radio to do so.
